I
came to the Lord at age 22 at the Flat Rock Baptist
Church under the Pastoralship of Rev. Albert Baker in
Madison, Ga. Pastor Jim Chamberlain then took me under
his wing and mentored me for three years. He poured
himself into me and with regular Bible study, going
through the entire Bible line by line, opened my eyes to
the wonders of God. He was a compassionate man who drew
out of me the things I was unable to see on my own. His
revelation of the Word of God, spiritual understanding
and wisdom, ignited a passion within me for the things
of God helping me to establish an intimate relationship
with my Savior and Lord. He taught me how to pray study
and listen. He demonstrated the love of God and, at
times, a patience of Job. He taught me how to measure
all things against the plumb line of God’s word, which
was an invaluable lesson that helps to keep me on the
straight and narrow today.
With a firm foundation in
place, I was soon able to recognize my spiritual gifts
and began working them to build the body of Christ while
reaching out to a lost and dying world. I began by
singing with the W.C. Harris Male Chorus, traveling
throughout several counties covering a two hundred mile
radius, for ten years. During this time I witnessed to
others, prayed for various needs and led many to th4
Lord. This was an invaluable time of growth and
experience in the practical application of God’s word
through hands on ministry.
I attend Lighthouse World
Outreach Center in Monroe, Georgia. I served as Youth
Pastor for four years and today I am involved in the
music ministry and community outreach. Our church is a
mission minded church that has as its goals the
destruction of racial and religious barriers that have
divided God’s people and communities for far too long.
We believe in taking church outside the four walls to
the people of the community, the incarcerated and the
recovering through one on one evangelism and special
events of which I am personally involved. I have been a
special speaker at various churches of all denominations
and races.
I graduated from Spirit
Filled Bible College with an Associate in Biblical
Studies in 2002. By sitting under anointed men and
women of God teaching the word as the Holy Spirit gave
them understanding this gave me a deeper understanding
of the word that God is now using as I minister in
songs.
In 2000 the Lord spoke to
my heart to form the group “William Clayton and the
Redeemed”. Today, nine years later, we are still
traveling down the straight and narrow way for our Lord
and Savior Jesus Christ. |
